LAX

Hey everyone! I trust you all found my blog well. So I just got through check-in and security at LAX, and I'm sitting at the terminal waiting to be on my way! Security always scares me because there's a million little things that can go wrong and a whole bunch of scary people waiting around to yell at you for it. However, I was somewhat comforted in that the guy who checked my ticket and ID was very cute. He was sweet too, and handed me back my second ticket that I wasn't supposed to give him with a very understanding smile I'm sure if I tripped and fell on my face in front of him he wouldn't yell at me. He might think I'm an idiot, but he probably wouldn't yell at me.

So my flight doesn't leave for another hour, and I'm getting in to Vancouver around 3PM. There I have a seven hour layover (ho boy) before hopping on another plane and arriving in Beijing at 12:20 AM (joy!) From there I get to try to navigate to the university by either taxi or public transportation through hand waving and facial expressions. Also, my limited mandarin and paper with the university's address might help.

In the mean time I'm probably going to be reading and sleeping a lot, and if can manage an internet connection, I might even talk to you guys. Some of you know me on Skype, so if you want to talk to me that would probably be a good method. Facebook might actually work (possibly) because I have the VPN program with UCI that I'm using. I guess we'll see. But I probably won't be on it that often one way or another. So e-mail and Skype is probably your best bet.

I'm kinda hesitant to leave my seat now because the terminal is getting really crowded. It probably won't be there when I get back. Oh the problems of solo travel. (There are many.) But I think I'm going to head off anyway. I can just stand for the rest of the hour, right? I'll be fine.

I'll try to keep this blog updated with anything interesting. I think I'm going to be writing down anything of interest that happens throughout the day, and transcribing it when I have a moment later (which will probably be often, since talking about myself is an excellent way to procrastinate on everything else I should be doing.) Don't worry, there'll be pictures too. I know that's what you're all here for anyway. I'd put in a picture now, but I'm pretty sure a fair amount of you have seen the inside of an airport. So I'm not going to bother. Sorry to disappoint, if you were really looking forward to that.
